August BJP Finished

Here's a picture of my Art Nouveau-inspired August Bead Journal page. I had planned to do more around the circle, but after auditioning many ideas in my head/on paper and rejecting them all, I decided maybe that's a sign it's already done. I'd like to use this in a crazy quilt in the future...

Although I haven't done a fully beaded page yet (and may not), it surprised me to read that Robin Atkins begins her Bead Journal Page with a fabric she loves. Then she covers the entire thing. It never occurred to me that the fabric would inspire you along the way, even though it may be completely covered in the end. The fabric I used is a very soft silk blouse I used to wear when I was a "professional woman" (so, now am I just an amateur woman?)

This turned out beautifully, Lin! I know what you mean about our old "professional" clothes -- I have been eying some of those things that are just idling at the back of my closet, too . . .

This is gorgeous! I would love to learn crazy quilting but not sure where to begin. Professional clothes, yeah sure, but what about the clothes that only fit skinny professionals and amateurs anymore?

Great piece...thanks for explaining so clearly how you did the twisted edge...it's very pretty.

Very lovely, Lin!!! You worked hard on the face, and in the end justified your work with a beautiful setting.

Just have to make a little addition to what you said about using fabric I love and then covering it with beads. It's more than inspirational, although for sure that's important. It also keeps me going, keeps me liking to work on my piece... how could I not, when the fabric is so gorgeous and compelling?!!!

That is so pretty! I never imagined it quite this way. What makes those little gray-green squiggles in the outside ring? I'd love to see it in a cq block!

Thanks for all your kind comments. Susan, the "squiggly" stems are some very thin cording that I dyed.

Love this, it is soo pretty! A while back you ask me about the little flower sequins we used on our cherry trees and yes, I do have a source for them. It is http://stores.ebay.com/Vincy-Ming-Store_Sequins-Flower_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ3QQftidZ2QQtZkm

Let me know if the link works. I didn't see any of the pink ones by themselves this time but she has mixtures of all colors. They look tinier than the ones you used too? I used 2 per flower to make the pink appear darker. Hope this helps.
